I am Melissa Fowler and have been a member of United in Faith since they started. I serve as a board member, teacher and assist others as needed.
Like so many others, I grew up in church but then walked away. Not from God exactly but definitely the church. It's best described as "putting God on a top shelf" somewhere. I started the walk back into living for God in 2016 but found I was basing my beliefs off a lot of bad teaching and things I remembered from childhood. I had never followed Proverbs 3:5 Lean not on thine own understanding, or 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved. Because of this, I have had a lot of work to do but wow, what a change! Just learning James 4:7 Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee. That has been a life saver! Learning that we have all the power, that our healing was paid for on the cross, and that we don't have to be sick!! Being able to share my testimony and help others to understand they are worthy of all the blessings God has for us is important to me. I have started and really enjoy breaking down the commonly told "children's bible stories" and seeing what the bible really says happened. What the reason was and what lesson we should learn from it. So far, my favorite has been Jonah and the whale.
I grew up in Riverton, KS and Belton, MO then spent 13 years in Dallas/Ft Worth before moving back to this area. I am married to Richard Fowler and we live in Oronogo, MO where we have a good sized garden (2024 is our 2nd year for this) that helps to feed us and our church family. I have a slight obsession with gardening, yarn, and crocheting! I also love music, singing (even as bad as I sound), reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and love animals. We have 2 grown kids, 2 grandkids and 4 dogs.
